Football Game Versus Washington State Set for 5:00 p.m.
Nov. 2, 2004
TEMPE, Ariz.--Arizona State University has set the starting time for its Saturday, November 13, 2004 football game versus Washington State University at 5 p.m. MT, Director of Athletics Gene Smith announced Tuesday.
Rather than wait until Monday, November 8 for the Pacific-10 Conference television selections to be made, ASU has set the time for 5 p.m. which is the same time as the TBS television window that Day, the lone remaining window.
'Even though we do not know the final decision on television,' says Smith, 'we decided it was in the best interest of our fans to set the game time now so that people can make their plans for the day.'
ASU will retire the jersey (number 42) of fallen U.S. Army Ranger Pat Tillman (November 6, 1976-April 22, 2004), who played collegiately for the Sun Devils between 1994-1997. Tillman was killed in Afghanistan last spring. He was the Pac-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year in '97, the honor that is now named after him.
Members of the Tillman family will be in attendance for this game. Representatives of The Military Order of the Purple Heart will be on hand to make a special presentation as well.
The date with Washington State also represents the final home game for the 2004 Sun Devils, including 13 seniors who will play in their final home game in the Maroon and Gold.
The Pat Tillman jerseys continue to be sold at the ASU Team Shop, only through the Holiday season. They are also available online at www.thesundevils.com. All proceeds from the sale of the jerseys go to the Pat Tillman Foundation.
