Nov. 7, 2004
Corvallis, OR - With the Pac-10 Conference title already clinched, the second-ranked UCLA men's soccer team closed out conference play with a 1-0 loss to Oregon State in Corvallis. Ryan Johnson scored the game's only goal at 18:32 to give the Beavers their first conference win of the year.
The Bruins outshot the Beavers 18-10 in the contest but only mustered two shots on goal, both by Chad Barrett and both of which were saved by Beaver goalkeeper Matt Fitchett. Barrett and Mike Enfield led the Bruins with three shots. UCLA goalkeeper Eric Reed had two saves of his own but could not stop one of Johnson's three shots on goal.
The loss snaps the Bruins' six-game winning streak and drops their record to 11-3-2, 6-2-0 in the Pac-10. Oregon State improves to 7-10-1, 1-6-0. UCLA will still win the Pac-10 title on the basis of its six conference victories. The Bruins clinched their third conference crown on Friday night with a 2-1 come-from-behind victory at No. 7 Washington.
UCLA will close out the regular season with a pair of home games on Nov. 11 vs. San Diego and Nov. 13 vs. UC Davis.
