Three Cougars Earn All Pac-10 Accolades

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington State juniors Alix Rustrum and Katie Hultin were named to the Pacific-10 All-Conference second team while senior Cailan McCutchan earned All-Pac-10 honorable mention honors, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Thursday. Not since 2000 have two Cougars earned second team honors in the same season.
Hultin finished her junior year with a 7-6-3 record, posting seven shutouts while making 87 saves and allowing 18 goals for a 0.97 goals against average. She set a WSU soccer program record by earning Pac-10 Player of the Week honors twice this season after posting shutouts over No. 12 Pepperdine, No. 8 UCLA and No. 22 USC. Hultin is tied for third among Pac-10 goalkeepers in the save percentage and saves categories while tying for second in the saves per game list. With a season left to play she is ranked in all of WSU's all-time career lists, placing third in minutes in goal (3423.03), fourth in saves (164), tied for third in wins (14), seventh in win percentage (0.41) and second in shutouts with 14. The co-captain earned All-Pac-10 honorable mention accolades last year and was named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week and the Soccer America Team of the Week for her winning performances against the Bruins and Trojans this fall.
Rustrum led the Cougars with nine goals this season which places her in a tie for 10th place on WSU's all-time season goal list and tied for fourth among Pac-10 players in the goals and goals per game category. The junior scored three game-winning goals this fall, placing her in tie for sixth place in the Cougar all-time career game-winning goals list with four. In three seasons Rustrum has 14 goals and 36 points placing her sixth on the WSU all-time career goals list and tied for seventh in the career points list.
McCutchan finished her WSU career with 38 starts in 53 games, recording 56 shots, placing 19 on goal and scoring seven goals including three game-winners. The Maple Valley, Wash. native scored a goal and assisted the game-winner in the Cougars' 3-2 upset over No. 12 Washington Oct. 29 which earned the midfielder Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week and Soccer America Team of the Week honors.
The Cougars finished seventh in the Pac-10 with a 8-7-4 overall record and a 3-4-2 conference finish.
