Cardinal Men In First After Day One At Speedo Cup

Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford men's swimming team was dominate on the opening day of competition at the UCI/Speedo Cup in Long Beach, Calif. The Cardinal men lead the field with 492 points while BYU is a distant second with 283 points.
Stanford began the day with a win in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:21.49, followed by BYU (1:22.76). Jayme Cramer and Shaun Phillips took third and fourth in the 500 freestyle relay, clocking in with times of 4:23.61 and 4:25.57 respectively.
Cardinal Hongzhe Sun won the 200 IM, touching the wall in 1:47.39. Teammate Tobias Oriwol took third in 1:49.90 while Mark Stephens was fourth (1:50.30). Stanford picked up another individual event win as Ben Wildman-Tobriner placed first in the 50 freestyle in a time of :20.27.
The Cardinal closed out the day with another relay win in the 400 medley relay, touching the wall in 3:17.71.
