Marvell Wynne Earns First International Cap In U.S. Victory

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. - UCLA freshman defender Marvell Wynne earned his first international cap as he and teammate Brandon Owens helped the U.S. U-20 National Team defeat Honduras 2-0 at Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Friday evening.
Wynne and Owens started in the back and played all 90 minutes for head coach Sigi Schmid's squad. The defense earned the shutout and allowed only six shots, three of which were on goal. This was Wynne's first appearance with the U-20s. Owens earned his third cap with the U-20s and 36th overall cap with the various national teams.
Scoring for the U.S. were Preston Zimmerman in the 45th minute and Freddy Adu on a penalty kick in the 79th minute.
The U.S. will face Mexico on Sunday evening minus six collegiate players who will rejoin their teams to prepare for the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
