Seventh-Ranked Cardinal Open Home Season in Santa Clara

Stanford's Home Away From Home...
The Cardinal will play its first four games (two exhibition and two regular season) at the Leavey Center on the campus of Santa Clara. Maples Pavilion was slated to open in January but will be finish ahead of schedule. Stanford Women's Basketball will be the first to play in the newly renovated Maples Pavilion when the Cardinal host Pepperdine on Dec. 10.
Stanford is now 20-11 all-time in season openers, winning the first game for four-straight years. Twenty-one times, the Cardinal has kicked off the new year on the road, posting a 14-7 record. This year, the Cardinal won a 63-57 decision at Utah.
* Pacific won its season opener on Friday night with a 59-50 victory over Northern Arizona in Stockton.
* Junior Carolina Ruiz led in every category in the game with the Lumberjacks, recording 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks.
* The Tigers were trailing 11-6 with 15:20 remaining in the first half, but scored 11 of the next 13 points to take the lead for good at 17-13.
The Stanford-Pacific Series...
Stanford leads the all-time series history over the Tigers, 14-3. The Cardinal has won the last six meetings, the last loss came on Nov. 29, 1983 in Palo Alto. Last season, Stanford limited the Tigers to only 25 points, which ranks second in school history for few points allowed (Santa Clara only tallied 23 points against Stanford on Feb. 21, 1976).
Stanford vs. the Big West...
The Cardinal is 42-22 all-time against current Big West teams. Stanford has faced nine of the 10 teams in the conference and leads all but two of the series (Cal State Fullerton has a 9-4 advantage and Long Beach State is 8-6 all-time versus the Cardinal).
Pacific vs. the Pac-10...
The Tigers are 10-49 all-time against current Pacific-10 Conference teams. Pacific has matched up against every Pac-10 squad except USC. The Tigers own a winning record over Arizona and are tied 2-2 in the all-time series with Washington State. They trail in the other seven series. Pacific last beat a Pac-10 team in 1997, when the Tigers downs the Golden Bears, 64-63, on Nov. 24 in Stockton.
