Men's Tennis Inks A Pair of Prep Standouts To National Letters of Intent

Nov. 22, 2004

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Washington men's tennis has signed two players, Patrik Fischer and David Chu, to national letters of intent, Husky head coach Matt Anger announced today. Fischer and Chu will join the Huskies for the 2005-06 season.

Fischer, who hails from Switzerland, is currently ranked No. 20 in the Swiss men's rankings. 'Patrik is already a solid player,' Anger said. 'But his best tennis is ahead of him and we can't wait to have him here in Seattle.'

Chu is a familiar name to the Husky program as David is the younger brother of UW sophomore Daniel Chu. David Chu, from Vancouver, British Columbia, was ranked No. 3 in last year's Under-16 Canadian rankings. He also finished fourth in the National Indoors and lost in the round of 16 in the National Outdoors.

'David's style of play is very different from his brother, and it will be a real treat to have them both here on the same team,' Anger said.

The Huskies open their spring season hosting Portland, January 21, at 4 p.m. at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
