Holly Azevedo Earns First-Team Academic All-America Honors

Tempe, Ariz. - Arizona State University student-athlete Holly Azevedo (Folsom, Calif.) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Women's Soccer Academic All-America first team. The honor marks the third straight year a soccer team member has earned Academic All-American honors.
Azevedo, a senior defender/midfielder, also just garnered Pac-10 first team accolades as well after posting consecutive 4.00 GPA semesters in communications. Of the 11 players selected as first-team Academic All-American, Azevedo was one of five to post perfect 4.00 cumulative grade-point averages.
As one of the team's top defenders, Azevedo ended her two-year career at Arizona State having started and played in 39 of 40 matches. Overall she tallied three goals and posted one assist for seven points.
Additionally, Azevedo was named the recipient of ASU's 2004 Female Student-Athlete of the Year as voted on by her peers within the athletic department.
