Cardinal Win Great Alaska Shootout

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Kelley Suminski scored 13 points to lead a balanced attack by No. 7 Stanford, and the Cardinal defeated Louisiana-Lafayette 67-47 Wednesday night in the finals of the Great Alaska Shootout.

Sebnem Kimyacioglu scored 11 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Cardinal (4-0), whose bench outscored Louisiana-Lafayette 23-4.

Anna Petrakova led Louisiana-Lafayette (3-1) with 23 points.

Stanford broke open a close game in the second half and limited the Rajin' Cajuns to a single field goal over the final 10 minutes.

The Cardinal shot just 38 percent the first half, but built a lead by outrebounding the Ragin' Cajuns 24-14 and taking 16 more shots.

A basket by Ashley Blanche gave Louisiana-Lafayette its final lead with 2:24 remaining in the first half. Stanford answered with a 9-0 run and led 36-29 when Suminski hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

A pair of baskets by Petrakova closed the gap to 39-33 with 18 minutes remaining in the second half, but Louisiana-Lafayette could get no closer.
