No. 14 Cal Volleyball Swept at No. 21 Arizona, 3-0

TUCSON, AZ - The No. 14-ranked California volleyball team (15-11, 10-7) was swept by No. 21-ranked Arizona (18-9, 10-7), 3-0 (30-27, 30-25, 30-20), Friday night at the McKale Center. The Wildcats out-hit the Bears .306 to .191 on the night, out-blocked Cal, 13 to 6, and posted five more digs (44 to 39) and six more assists (50 to 44) in the win. Junior middle hitter Alicia Powers did have a strong night for the Bears with 13 kills, two service aces and two solo blocks. Freshman outside hitter Angie Pressey added 11 kills and 11 digs, while sophomore setter Samantha Carter finished with 40 assists.
Junior outside hitter Kim Glass' 22 kills provided much of the offense for Arizona as Glass moved into third on Arizona's all-time kills list with 1,478 kills. The two-time All-American had seven kills in the first game, eight in the second and seven more in the final frame. She also had a match-high three service aces.
The Bears next travel to Arizona State to conclude the 2004 regular season. Cal will face the Sun Devils, Saturday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe. The Bears are looking to advance to NCAA postseason play for the third consecutive year - a feat Cal has not accomplished since the 1987-89 seasons.
