Women's Tennis To Hold Community Clinic Thursday

Dec. 1, 2004

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Washington's women's tennis team will hold the first of a series community outreach clinics, Thursday, Dec. 2, from 1-3 p.m. at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on the UW campus. Husky coaches and players will provide tennis instruction to 30-50 boys and girls ranging from 9-14 years of age, primarily from Dearborn Park Elementary School.

Children in attendance will receive personalized clinics in small groups, led by Husky team members. Refreshments and a meet and greet will follow.

Thursday's clinic is a part of an outreach program organized by UW head coach Patty McCain for youth in the Seattle community. There are plans for a series of clinics with the purpose of introducing the game of tennis to today's youth, as well as developing their skills. In addition to providing a service to the community, these clinics will allow UW student-athletes to further their leadership skills and develop interpersonal strengths that will prove beneficial in their future endeavors.
