Raising Reser Update -- December 2, 2004

Dec. 2, 2004

Corvallis, Ore. - Raising Reser is in full swing. The day after the Beavers demolished the Ducks on the field at the Civil War the demolition continued into the east side bleachers. The temporary bleachers and old grandstand have been completely removed. A new footing running the length of the field has been poured and will serve as the foundation for the lower bowl seating. The student section will be from the wall down to the new field wall, and the lower bowl seating will be above the wall going back towards the towers.

The brick exterior should be completed this week on the fourth tower and precast accent pieces will begin to be installed in the next two weeks. A lot of work will be going on inside the towers over the next few months that may not be visible on the web cams. Most of the utilities, heating, AC, and other specialty trades will be working on the conduits and duct work that will be supplying the structure with everything it will need for next season. Several small rooms near the towers will also be housing a lot of the transformers and power units that will run the stadium.

Some steel has started to arrive and more is coming in every day. Starting December 6th, the steel erection company will begin building the structural frame of the loge and club area with the open space for the concourse underneath. After building the loge and club frame they will build the suite level and complete the roof. They hope to have the majority of the structure and decking in place by early March.

Precast concrete will be following the steel when it is safe to work under them. This will develop into the actual seating bowl where the seats and bleachers will be attached.

A retaining wall is being placed along the North side by the ramp. This will be the edge of the expansion along that side. The ramp will be modified to the north a little to allow for vehicle access to the field.
