No. 25 UCLA Defeats No. 14 Purdue, 70-64

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Noelle Quinn scored 23 points to join three teammates indouble figures, and No. 25 UCLA defeated No. 14 Purdue 70-64 Sunday.
UCLA (5-1) led 50-38 with 10:59 to play, but Purdue tied it at 57 on TyeJackson's 3-pointer with 3:27 left.
The Bruins took the lead for good on freshman Lindsey Pluimer's layup with3:07 remaining. Purdue's Emily Heikes made five of six free throws, the lasttwo with 1:07 remaining, pulling the Boilermakers within 63-62.
But UCLA sealed the victory by scoring the next five points. Quinn made ajump shot and one of two free throws, and Lisa Willis made two free throws.
The Bruins are off to their best start since the 1982-1983 season when theywere 5-0.
Jackson led Purdue (4-2) with 14 points, and Heikes added 13. Willis added14, Pluimer 12, and Nikki Blue 11 as the Bruins won their fifth consecutivegame following a season-opening loss to TCU.
UCLA has won two straight over ranked teams in an eight-day span, after avictory over then No. 4 Texas on Nov. 28.
