Doug Nienhuis Selected to Play in the East-West Shrine Game

Corvallis, Ore. - Oregon State University football student-athlete Doug Nienhuis has been invited to play in the 80th annual East-West Shrine Game scheduled for Sat., Jan. 15 at SBC Park in San Francisco. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN beginning at 11 a.m. PST.
Nienhuis, an offensive tackle, has started 37 consecutive games and has played in 46 overall for the Beavers. He was recently selected First Team All-Pac-10 Conference after earning second team mention as a junior. Nienhuis will play in his third bowl game Dec. 28 at the Insight Bowl.
Nienhuis joins his current teammates quarterback Derek Anderson, cornerback Aric Williams and defensive end Bill Swancutt on the team. Beaver head coach Mike Riley will lead the West. Riley's staff will include defensive coordinator Mark Banker and offensive coordinator Paul Chryst.
The Shrine Game has raised more than $14 million for the nation's 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children. The game is comprised of senior student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility.
