Athletic Department Unveils 'Operation -- Thank You Military.'

Dec. 15, 2004

Corvallis, Ore. - 'Beaver Nation' has the opportunity to support the Oregon State University football team, and at the same time, support the military personnel and their families stationed in the Phoenix area.

Oregon State will face Notre Dame in the 16th annual Insight Bowl. The game, which will air on ESPN, will be played Tues., Dec. 28 at Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix at 6:30 p.m. PST.

Ticket sales for the game are going at a brisk pace with more than 4,000 already being sold through the Oregon State Ticket Office.

For the Beaver fans who won't be traveling to Arizona for the game, 'OPERATION: Thank You Military' has been established to help you support your team along with the military personnel and their families stationed in the Phoenix area. For a donation of $26, fans can help military personnel and their families enjoy the bowl game. Fans making the donation will also receive a free ticket to the Dec. 28 OSU men's basketball contest against Sacramento State - game time has been moved to 5 p.m. Following the basketball game fans can view the Insight Bowl on big screen televisions inside Gill Coliseum.

Over 1,600 military personnel in the area will be on-duty during the holiday season and thousands of children and spouses will spend the holiday season without their family member who is currently deployed overseas. Oregon State fans can add some holiday cheer to these deserving families by donating their Insight Bowl tickets, and at the same time, expand 'Beaver Nation.'

To participate in 'OPERATION: Thank You Military,' please call the Oregon State Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-BEAVS or 800-468-3287 and tell them you want to support the military families in Arizona.
