Corvallis, Ore. - Dennis Christopher and Burnell Wallace of New Orleans have officially been admitted to Oregon State University and will begin classes Jan. 3, Beaver head coach Mike Riley announced Thursday. Both are graduates of O. Perry Walker High School and each signed national letters of intent during last February's signing period.
Christopher was a three-year starter and the Defensive Player of the Year for the district. He made 114 tackles as a senior and 82 as a junior. Christopher also made nine interceptions in a prep career in which he played linebacker and strong safety. He will enter OSU as a linebacker prospect.
Wallace played wide receiver and earned Offensive Player of the Year for the district and the conference. He caught 60 passes for 1,039 yards and 19 touchdowns as a senior. Wallace also returned four punts and four kickoffs for touchdowns. For his prep career he scored 27 touchdowns for a school record 162 points.
'The most impressive thing about both individuals is that they are committed to earning an education at Oregon State University,' Riley said. 'They both have worked diligently within the system to meet the requirements to become a student-athlete at the NCAA level and the entire staff is proud to welcome them to Corvallis.'
Christopher and Wallace will have four full seasons of eligibility, plus an available redshirt year. Both played with current Beaver true freshman cornerback Keenan Lewis at O. Perry Walker.
