BYU Snaps USC's Four-Game Winning Streak

PROVO, Utah - Ambrosia Anderson hit a key three-pointer with two minutes remaining Saturday as the BYU Cougars defeated the USC Women of Troy, 76-73, in non-conference women's basketball action at the Marriott Center. Anderson had 15 points with nine rebounds as the Cougars snapped the Trojans' four-game winning streak.
BYU guard Julie Sullivan led both teams with 21 points and was eight-of-nine from the free throw line. Meghan Gnekow led USC with 19 points and eight rebounds.
The Cougars are now 6-2 on the season while the Women of Troy fall to 5-3.
BYU held a 39-36 lead at halftime, shooting 58% from the floor. In the second half, USC used a 10-2 run to build a seven-point lead at the 14:30 mark before Lauren Riley tied the game at 56-56 with a layup. Down by four with 20 seconds left, Brynn Cameron hit a three-pointer for the Women of Troy to make it a one-point deficit. Melinda Johnsen made two free throws for the Cougars and Camille LeNoir's game-tying attempt at the buzzer fell short for USC.
USC will play at TCU on Tuesday (Dec. 21) to complete its non-conference season before the start of the Pac-10 Conference season on Tuesday (Dec. 28) at UCLA.
