Manya Makoski Earns NSCAA Scholar All-America Honor

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State soccer player Manya Makoski (Trumbull, Connecticut) has been named to the 2004 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-America second team, announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Makoski was one of just nine midfielders to be selected to the team.
Makoski, who just finished her junior year as a Sun Devil, earns her first honor on the NSCAA Scholar Team and becomes ASU's third Academic All-American selection, joining two-time honoree Amy LePeilbet.
Makoski was also selected to the Academic All-Pac-10 second team after garnering honorable mention accolades as a sophomore. Makoski is a member of ASU's Barrett's Honors College and holds a 3.74 GPA in journalism/mass communications. She started in all 19 games in 2004 with a team-high three game-winning goals. Makoski also finished tied for the team-high in goals (6) and was second in points (14).
All 38 players selected to the team will be invited to attend the NSCAA All-America Luncheon, to be held Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, in conjunction with the 2005 NSCAA Convention in Baltimore, Md.
