UCLA's Noelle Quinn Named Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player Of The Week
Jan. 5, 2005
UCLA sophomore guard Noelle Quinn has been named the U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 30-Jan. 5, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Quinn, a native of Los Angeles, averaged 17.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals, 3.5 assists and 1.0 blocks in two games as UCLA swept the Oregon schools. She shot a combined 40.0 percent from the field (16-of-40) and 75.0 percent (3-of-4) from the foul line.
In the Bruins' 73-45 victory over Oregon State on Jan. 2, Quinn scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for her 11th career double-double and fourth this season. She led the team in both categories and dished out six assists. Her eight steals tied for the eighth-best single-game total in school history.
In the 70-54 win over Oregon on Jan. 4, Quinn contributed 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds. She has scored in double digits in 33 straight games. The victory over the Ducks was UCLA's 10th consecutive at Pauley Pavilion, the team's longest home winning streak since 1990, when it won the last six games of the 1989-90 season and the first four to start the 1990-91 campaign.
UCLA (9-3 overall, 3-0 Pac-10) leads the Conference race heading into this weekend's games. The No. 22/23 Bruins travel to Washington State and Washington Friday and Sunday, respectively, for their first Pac-10 road games of the season.
The Player of the Week honor is the fifth for Quinn, her third this season, and is the 31st all-time selection for UCLA.
