Men's Swimming Falls To BYU

PROVO, Utah-- The Washington men's swimming team was out matched this afternoon against No. 22 Brigham Young, dropping the dual meet 161-101. The Cougars won 14 of 16 events to dip Washington's dual meet record to 6-2.
Washington posted two season-best times in the 100 backstroke with Bezerra swimming UW's fourth-fastest time in the school history (50.42) with a second place finish and Kurt Hardesty posting a time of 52.56 to place fourth.
The Huskies placed second in nine events including the 1000 freestyle (Lorant Divald- 9:53.19), 200 freestyle (Peter Wicklund- 1:41.82), 200 butterfly (Craig Gillis- 1:55.51), 200 backstroke (Taylor Brugh- 1:54.32), 200 breaststroke (Jake Salaz- 2:07.81), 500 freestyle (Quinn- 4:47.60), 100 butterfly (Jared Osborne- 51.18), 200 IM (Gillis- 1:57.96) and 400 freestyle relay (Jim Wolfe, Bruno Barbic, Wicklund, Bezerra- 3:07.46).
The swimming team returns to action Jan. 14-15 when it takes on Arizona and Northwestern in Tucson.
