For the first time since the Pac-10 Conference expanded to 10 teams for the 1978-79 season, no team has escaped the first two weekends undefeated in league play... USC and UCLA travel to the desert for a showdown with the Arizona schools. After dropping its league opener, UCLA has won three straight and will now face a hot ARIZONA STATE squad which is sporting a 13-2 record for the first time since 1981... The Oregon schools also take to the road to visit the Washington schools, while CALIFORNIA hosts STANFORD in this week's big rivalry.

PAC-10 NOTES

• Senior C Channing Frye averaged 20 points and 10.5 rebounds in ARIZONA's split in the Bay Area last weekend. Frye has scored 20 or more points in three consecutive games, matching his career-best of three straight 20 point performances he accomplished last season... Frye is shooting 23-of-41 (.561) over the last three games... Arizona is shooting 47-of-59 (.797) from the free throw line over the last three games... Senior guard Salim Stoudamire has connected on 22 of his last 24 free throw attempts (.917). On the year, he's shooting 35-of-40 (.875) from the charity stripe... With 263 career three-pointers, Stoudamire needs 10 more buckets from beyond the arc to pass cousin Damon for second place on the school's career list... The Wildcats have won the last 19 meetings with USC in McKale Center. The average margin of victory in those 19 wins is 20.6 points. The Wildcats also have won the last seven meetings with UCLA in McKale Center, the average margin of victory in those seven wins being 21.3 points.

• ARIZONA STATE will play a game Thursday with a 13-2 record for the first time since Jan. 24, 1981... ASU has won four of the last five games with UCLA. However, prior to the Sun Devil's recent success against UCLA, the Bruins had won 24 of the previous 25 meetings... Junior F Ike Diogu has notched a double-double eight times in the past 12 games and has posted a career-best six straight 20-point games... Diogu is currently leading the league in scoring (23.3 ppg) and rebounding (10.4 rpg). Only two players have ever finished the season leading the league in both categories - Oregon State's A.C. Green in 1985 (19.1 ppg/9.2 rpg) and California's Mark McNamara in 1982 (22.0 ppg/12.6 rpg)... Senior G Steve Moore has scored in double figures in each of the last seven games, averaging 14.2 points in that span.

• CALIFORNIA junior G Martin Smith posted a pair of career-bests with 12 points and 39 minutes played in the loss to Arizona State. He also added seven assists with just one turnover against the Sun Devils... Junior G Richard Midgley, Cal's leading scorer at 15.3 points per game, was limited to six minutes against Arizona State due to a shoulder injury... The Bears have been plagued with bumps and bruises this season. Entering the season, Cal knew it would be without sophomore F Leon Powe (knee), freshman C Sam Rayburn (knee) and junior F Jordi Geli (foot), but then added sophomore G Ayinde Ubaka (foot) to the list in mid-November. He is expected back in action this month. Sophomore F Marquise Kately nearly added himself to the injury list last week after slicing his finger with a kitchen knife. Eight stitches took care of the cut and he was back in action for the Arizona schools... Cal has won two of the last three meetings with Stanford in Haas Pavilion.

• Over the last five games, OREGON sophomore G Aaron Brooks is averaging 22.8 points, shooting 37-of-65 (.569) from the field, 16-of-30 (.533) from three-point range, and 24-of-29 (.828) from the charity stripe... The Ducks are 6-1 in games decided by 10 points or less... Oregon leads the league in field goal percentage (.507) thanks in part to freshmen Malik Hairston (.521), Bryce Taylor (.522) and Maarty Leunen (.489) who have successfully contributed to the Ducks' accuracy.

• Since shooting 16-of-30 (.533) from the free throw line in its win at Prairie View, OREGON STATE has shot 75-of-97 (.773) from the charity stripe over the last four games... The Beavers are getting good production from their bench. In 10 of the last 12 games, a bench player has scored in double figures... Since his return from toe surgery, senior F David Lucas has scored in double figures in each of the four games he's played, averaging 16.5 points and 5.0 rebounds... In three Pac-10 games, junior G Jason Fontenet is averaging 13.3 points and 5.3 assists... OSU has won nine of the last 11 meetings with Washington State.

• STANFORD junior F Dan Grunfeld scored a career high 29 points on 10-of-12 shooting in the Cardinal's upset win over Arizona. It was the third time Grunfeld has reset his career scoring mark this season. Grunfeld also scored 24 points against Arizona State, increasing his scoring average to 18.1 points-per-game, good for the team lead and second place in the Conference... Senior C Rob Little recorded his second double-double of the season (4th career) with a 16 point, 12 rebound effort versus the Wildcats. He made seven of 10 field goal attempts and contributed two assists and a steal... Stanford has won five of its last six games against Arizona, the best streak against the Wildcats since UCLA won five of six from 1995-97.

• UCLA improved to 8-0 at home by defeating Washington State and No. 12 Washington. The latter was the Bruins' first win over a ranked opponent since they defeated No. 18 California in 2003... UCLA proved to be master of the comeback on the weekend, rallying from deficits of 17 and 21 to defeat the Cougars and Huskies, respectively... The Bruins' double overtime win over WSU was the first multiple overtime game played at Pauley Pavilion since 1985... Senior F Dijon Thompson proved versatile in both contests, contributing 10 points and 16 rebounds against the Cougars, good for his fourth double-double of the season, followed by a 29 point, nine rebound effort vs. Washington. The game against the Huskies was Thompson's 100th in a UCLA uniform... Freshman G Jordan Farmar had 13 assists on the weekend, dishing out seven against Washington and six versus WSU. He now ranks third in the Pac-10, averaging 5.25 assists-per-game.

• USC freshman F Nick Young continued to display his improvement, scoring 20 points and collecting seven rebounds against Washington. He is averaging 12.5 points-per-game in four games of Conference action after putting up 8.1 ppg in 11 non-conference games... Sophomore G Lodrick Stewart extended his run of double-digit scoring efforts to 12 games, good for the fourth longest active streak in the Pac-10. Stewart is the Conference's eighth leading scorer (14.7 ppg), having made more three-pointers (42) than any other Pac-10 player. His backcourt partner, freshman G Gabriel Pruitt, continues to lead the Conference in steals, with 33 thefts in 15 games (2.20 spg). Pruitt is also ninth in the Pac-10 in assists, averaging 3.8 per contest.

• WASHINGTON junior G Nate Robinson broke out of a mini-slump, scoring 21 points against UCLA. The Huskies' sparkplug had gone six games without scoring more than 13 points after starting the season by averaging 22.5 points in eight games... Senior G Tre Simmons has lived up to his moniker, making 50.9 percent of his threes on the season - fittingly, it's the third best percentage in the Conference - and 64.3 percent through four games of Pac-10 play. He is also the Conference leader at the charity stripe, downing 92.1 percent of his free throw attempts... Junior F Mike Jensen has emerged in the Husky offense of late; after averaging 6.8 points-per-game through the season's first 12 games, Jensen has posted 15.3 ppg over the last three.

• WASHINGTON STATE senior F Jeff Varem's game has blossomed with the onset of Conference play. Through four Pac-10 games he is averaging 17.8 points and 9.8 rebounds-per-game, after contributing 7.1 points and 7.3 rebounds-per-game in nine non-conference match-ups. Varem collected his third career double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds against UCLA. He followed that up with 21 points and four rebounds as WSU defeated USC. For the weekend, Varem connected on 18-of-21 (.857) from the field and had just four turnovers while handing out six assists... Senior G Thomas Kelati was a two-time all-league selection as a cross-country runner in high school, and he has the endurance to prove it. Kelati played in 88 of a possible 90 minutes during the Cougars' trip to L.A., including all 50 minutes of their double-overtime loss to UCLA, in which he notched 18 points, six assists, four rebounds, and two steals. The ironman effort propelled Kelati into the Pac-10 Conference lead in minutes played, at 35.23 per contest.
