TEAM OF THE WEEK: Arizona StateThe Sun Devils pulled off a sweep in the Bay Area, beating Stanford 81-69 and California 79-70. It was the first time in nearly two decades that Arizona State won both ends of that trip.
Remember, Arizona State was picked to finish near the bottom in the Pac-10. Coach Rob Evans' squad has been one of the nation's biggest surprises.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ike Diogu, Arizona StateJunior forward Ike Diogu has been one of the top players in America this season. He posted two more impressive performances in Arizona State's wins at Stanford and California.
Diogu hit 10-of-16 shots, grabbed 15 rebounds and scored 28 points at Maples Pavilion against the Cardinal. He had 25 points and seven boards versus the Golden Bears. He's first team All-Rolls Royce for the first half of the season, in my book.
Notes: Ike Diogu also earned Pac-10 Player of the Week honors after averaging 26.5 points and 11 rebounds in the two victories over Stanford and California. Against Stanford, Diogu collected his eighth double-double of the season (23rd career), pouring in 28 points and corralling 15 rebounds. He also had three blocks and an assist. Versus California, Diogu notched 25 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two assists.
