Free Admission Highlights Day of Wrestling Sunday at Wells Fargo Arena

TEMPE, Ariz. - Although Sunday is normally considered the 'Day of Rest', Arizona State University and the Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club will provide nonstop competition this Sunday, Jan. 16, inside Wells Fargo Arena. The SKWC tournament, the Sunkist Kids Ultimate Challenge, will open the day at 8 a.m. before the No. 18 Sun Devils play host to Cal State Fullerton in a 7 p.m. Pac-10 dual. Admission for the youth folkstyle tournament will be $8 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under and free for kids five and under, but admission to the ASU-CSUF clash is free.
The Sunkist event will feature a free clinic the night before (7-9 p.m.) before the five age-division tournament gets underway at 8 a.m. Sunday morning. The five divisions are six and under, eight and under, 10 and under, 12 and under and 14 and under (no high school freshman) with each holding anywhere between nine and 21 weight divisions. Each weight winner will earn a Kachina with placers second through sixth earning medals and places seven and eight earning certificates. A tournament outstanding wrestler will be awarded at each age division while all classes will compete for a fastest pin and most pins honor.

Following the tournament, ASU will battle the CSUF Titans in a Pac-10 dual. The Sun Devils hold an all-time record of 13-0-0 against the Titans and won the latest dual, a 22-12 decision in Tempe last year. ASU also will be in search of its second conference victory of the season following a 20-19 defeat of Cal State Bakersfield Monday night at the Sun Devil Duals.
Prior to the weekend action, the Sun Devils will face No. 10 Oklahoma in a 7 p.m. dual Wednesday night inside Wells Fargo Arena.
