After a three-day tryout camp in Chula Vista, Calif., USA Softball has selected a group of athletes that will compete at the 2005 Pacific Rim Sports Summit in Seattle in June. Among the group is Cal third baseman Vicky Galindo.

Galindo, who led Cal with a .374 batting average in 2004, joins 12 players from the United States' Athens Olympics gold Medal team. Along with Texas' Cat Osterman and Stanford's Lauren Lappin, Galindo is one of just three college players on the team.

The rest of the roster is comprised of Team USA regulars, including three-time Olympic gold medalists Lisa Fernandez and Laura Berg and two-time Olympic gold medalist Stacey Nuveman.

Adding to the core group are 2004 Olympic gold medalist Jennie Finch, Amanda Freed, Lovieanne Jung, Kelly Kretschman, Jessica Mendoza, Tairia Flowers, Jenny Topping and Natasha Watley. Arizona head coach Mike Candrea will serve Team USA in the same capacity.

Galindo's invite does not extend to the 2005 National Team, which will be holding another camp in mid-June to determine this year's roster. The Pacific Rim Sports Summit will be the second international, multi-sport competition created in recent years by the USOC and will run from June 8-12.
