Donations for Tsunami Relief Fund to be Accepted at Gymnastics Meet Friday

Oregon State's gymnastics meet against defending champion UCLA Friday night is the first opportunity for Oregon State supporters to provide donations to the Beaver Nation and G.I. Joes Tsunami Relief Fund.Oregon State Athletics and G.I. Joes have teamed up to provide life-saving relief assistance across South Asia, the area hit hard by the 8.9-magnitude earthquake, followed by a devastating tsunami that stretched over a 3,700-mile-wide path.
For every dollar contributed by Beaver Nation, G.I. Joes will match the contribution up to $20,000. OSU student-athletes and G.I. Joe's volunteers will be accepting cash donations at the Gill Coliseum gates at the following events or at any of the 22 G.I. Joe's locations throughout Oregon and Washington.

Monetary donations will go directly to Northwest Medical Teams to help them deliver medical supplies to the stricken areas of South Asia. More than 96% of gifts given t NWMT go directly to the Field. NWMT is an official USAID agency and is the only West Coast charity named to the Forbes Top 10 charitable organizations list.
Northwest Medical Teams sent its first team to Thailand on Tuesday, December 28, and will send a team to Sri Lanka on Thursday. An additional team will depart for Indonesia on Sunday. Requests are pouring in for additional help.
