Coach John Released from Hospital

Jan. 16, 2005

Corvallis - Oregon State University men's basketball coach Jay John was released from the UW Medical Center on Sunday afternoon, a day after leaving the Beavers' game against Washington at halftime due to chest pains.

Doctors are calling the incident a 'hypertensive event', which is basically high blood pressure brought on by stress. John is feeling better, although very tired from the ordeal.

John is scheduled to fly home Sunday night.
