Freeman Memorial Tennis Championships - Day One Results

Las Vegas, NV - Rounds One and Two of the third annual Freeman Memorial Women's Tennis Championship wrapped up on Day One, and No. 15 California came away with several keys wins. The Freeman Memorial includes 10 of the nation's premier tennis programs, including No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 Florida, No. 5 UCLA, No. 7 Southern California, No. 13 Georgia and No. 15 California, among others.

After a first round bye, number one seed and No. 3 in the nation Suzi Babos defeated Tennessee's No. 50 Sabita Majaraj in straight sets, 6-2; 7-6, earning the freshman her 16th win this year.

In Flight Two of singles, junior co-captain Jessica Shu defeated Cindy Treber of UNLV, 6-0; 6-1 in the first round. Round Two saw first-round bye Stephanie Kusano defeat Magda Wojdylo of South Carolina, 6-4; 6-2.

New doubles duo Suzi Babos and spring addition Marion Ravelojaona recorded their first win in doubles, beating Florida's Liles and Suvak, 8-5, in Round One.

Freshman Cristina Visico and Ravelojaona also moved on in the Flight One singles consolation bracket, Visico by way of a bye, Ravelojaona due to an injury default.
