Knee Injury Sends Quinn To Sidelines

Jan. 18, 2005

UCLA women's basketball standout Noelle Quinn will undergo arthroscopic surgery on her left knee on Wednesday to repair cartilage damage and is expected to be out of action for three to six weeks. Quinn injured her knee while driving to make a basket in the lane during the first half of a game versus Arizona on Sunday in Pauley Pavilion.

Examinations on Monday and Tuesday revealed that Quinn has torn meniscus cartilage in her left knee. The Bruin sophomore guard, who is averaging 16.9 points (4th in the Pac-10) and 7.1 rebounds (4th in the Pac-10), is not expected to make the trip this weekend as the team will play at the Bay Area schools.

'We will certainly miss Noelle's presence in our lineup,' said head coach Kathy Olivier. 'She is a large part of our team's success both on and off the court, and we wish her a speedy recovery. This now creates an opportunity for several of our young players to step up and answer the challenge of keeping us in the Pac-10 race.'
