Pac-10 Indoor Championships - Final Results

Seattle, WA - California recently wrapped up play at the 2005 Pac-10 Indoor Championships. All nine Pac-10 teams which sponsor women's tennis were represented in the event, including No. 1 Stanford, No. 4 UCLA, No. 10 Washington and the No. 17 Golden Bears.

No. 2 seed Monica Wiesener, also ranked No. 15 in the Northwest region, earned a hard-fought victory over Allison Rainey of Washington in the quarterfinals, courtesy of a first-round bye, 7-5; 3-6; 7-5, one Day One of competition. Wiesener would eventually fall to Oregon's Davina Mendiburu, 6-3; 6-4, in the semifinals.

Cal Freshman Hilary Englert dropped her first-round match to Stephanie Svanfeldt of Washington, 7-6; 6-2.

In doubles, the duo of Englert and Wiesener came up short against Washington's Kolbovic and Svanfeldt, 8-3.

The Bears resume action this Saturday, Jan. 22 against Cal Poly at Berkeley's Hellman Tennis Center, 12:00 p.m.
