PAC-10 NOTES

After defeating Oregon State Saturday, ARIZONA gave itself its first road sweep since Feb. 27-March 1, 2003, when UA swept the Bay Area... With 52 points this week, senior G Salim Stoudamire moved into 10th place on the Arizona career scoring list with 1,601 points. In his 111-game career, Stoudamire is averaging 14.4 points per game. He also moved into second place on the UA career three-point field goals made list with 280. He trails only Jason Gardner, who knocked down 318 treys from 1999-2003... Led by senior C Channing Frye's 10-of-12 shooting from the free throw line, Arizona made a season-high 24-of-27 free throw attempts (.889) in Saturday's win. Solid free throw shooting has been a staple for the Wildcats in 2004-05, as the team has made 76.2 percent (279-of-366) of its charity tosses... Arizona is 12-1 this season when outrebounding the opposition, and six times the squad has posted at least a +10 rebound margin

ARIZONA STATE held Oregon to just 51 points and 28.6 percent from the field (20-of-70). The 51 points is the fewest by a Duck team at Mac Court since a 54-48 loss to Oregon State on March 6, 1993... With high-flying Washington coming to Tempe on Sunday, a streak will be tested. No Sun Devil opponent has scored 100 points in Wells Fargo Arena since third-ranked Arizona topped ASU 101-73 on Feb. 27, 1988, a span of the past 277 games. Only five teams have reached triple digits against a Rob Evans' coached team in regulation, a span of 365 games... Sophomore F Serge Angounou matched his best scoring game with 20 points at Oregon Saturday and is averaging 11.0 points and 7.1 boards in his past 16 games... Sophomore G Kevin Kruger is averaging 12.0 points in Pac-10 games and has notched 29 assists and just nine turnovers in those seven games... Since joining the Pac-10 in 1978-79, ASU is 20-7 against Washington in Tempe and is 5-1 under Rob Evans. ASU is 8-4 vs. Washington State under Rob Evans, 4-2 in Tempe... Junior C Ike Diogu's national-best double figure scoring streak of 78 games still has a ways to go until it reaches NCAA-record levels. The NCAA record is 115 set by La Salle's Lionel Simmons from 1987-90. Diogu's lowest point total in his career was 10 against Morehead State on Nov. 22, 2003, the first game of his career, and then 10 at Oregon last Saturday. He made two free throws with 21 seconds left to extend the streak.

CALIFORNIA junior C David Paris was nearly flawless from the field last weekend during the Bears' road trip to USC and UCLA. In Thursday's loss to USC, he shot 5-of-6 from the field in scoring 11 points. In Saturday's win at UCLA, Paris scored a career-high 20 points on 10-of-11 shooting. Over the last three games, Paris is averaging 14.3 points while shooting 19-of-25 (.760) from the field. Paris entered the 2004-05 season with a career scoring average of 1.6 points per game. He's averaging 7.4 ppg this season, reaching double digits five times, including each of the last three games... Junior F Rod Benson grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds at UCLA. He leads the Bears in rebounding, averaging 5.5 boards a game... A sprained right shoulder continues to limit junior G Richard Midgley. He did not see action last week in Los Angeles.

OREGON looks to end a streak of eight losses in the Bay Area dating back to the 2000 season. However, three of those defeats have come in overtime... Sophomore G Jordan Kent is averaging 6.8 rebounds over the last five games. He posted a career-high 10 rebounds against Arizona State... It will be a battle of senior-less squads Thursday in Berkeley as neither the Ducks nor California list a senior on their rosters.

OREGON STATE won its first seven home games this season before losing to Arizona on Saturday. That's the Beavers' best start at home since 1990-91... Coach Jay John missed the Arizona State game while dealing with the effects of a bout of hypertension. He was cleared by doctors on Friday and was back on the sidelines on Saturday against Arizona... OSU's 22-point win over Arizona State was its biggest against a Pac-10 school in the three seasons that the current coaching staff has been in place... OSU will try to go against recent history in the Bay Area this weekend. The Beavers have lost six straight Pac-10 road games, and have only won one of the last 15 such games. They've lost 10 straight to the Cardinal and haven't beaten Stanford at Maples Pavilion since 1993. They've lost 13 straight to the Golden Bears and haven't won in the Bay Area since 1998 (a game played in Oakland)... Junior F Nick DeWitz is averaging 17.7 points over the last three games, shooting 20-of-30 (.667) from the field and 7-of-9 (.778) from three-point range

STANFORD junior F Matt Haryasz posted his second career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds at USC. He averaged 16.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in the Cardinal's road sweep of UCLA and USC... Fighting a 102-degree temperature on Friday night, junior G Chris Hernandez responded Saturday with 20 points, six assists and five steals in helping the Cardinal come back from a six-point second half deficit and pull out the win at USC... During Stanford's four-game winning streak, senior C Rob Little is shooting 25-of-39 (.641) and averaging 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds... Junior F Dan Grunfeld's points per game improvement of 15.2 ppg this year is the best in the nation. He averaged 3.4 ppg last season and is currently at 18.6 ppg this year.

UCLA junior C Michael Fey led the Bruins against the Bay area schools in Pauley - posting a team-high 17 points, career and game-high 11 rebounds (first career double/double) and team-high tying one blocked shot vs. Stanford and a team-high 12 points, four rebounds, one assist and blocked shot vs. California... California outrebounded UCLA (43-32) snapping a UCLA string of eight games in row in which the Bruins outrebounded their opponent... The last time the Bay area schools swept the Bruins in Pauley Pavilion was during the 2000 Pac-10 campaign... Vs. California, UCLA's 18 first half points and 51 total points were season-lows.

USC hosts UCLA on Saturday. While UCLA holds a 119-98 edge in the series, the Trojans are currently riding a four-game winning streak over the Bruins. That's the longest streak by USC in the series... Senior F Jeff McMillan has pulled down 31 rebounds over the last three games, averaging 10.3 boards a game... Freshman G Gabe Pruitt has posted double digit scoring totals in each of the last four games, including a season-high 23 points against Stanford. Over the last four games, he's averaging 15.0 points, while shooting 17-of-29 (.586) from the field, 12-of-18 (.667) from three-point range, and 14-of-17 (.824) from the charity stripe... .

At 16-2, WASHINGTON is off to its best start through 18 games since Marv Harshman's 1976 Huskies started 17-1... 18-game homecourt winning streak is the school's longest since also winning 18 straight at home from Mar. 12, 1983 - Jan. 3, 1985. It's currently the nation's eighth longest streak... The 12-game homecourt winning streak in Pac-10 play is the best in UW history... Junior F Jamaal Williams has been making the most of his playing time over the last three games. He's averaging 16.0 points and 5.6 rebounds in an average of 17.3 minutes per game (52 total minutes) over the last three contests. He's shooting 20-of-31 (.645) over that span.

WASHINGTON STATE held Washington to a season-low 66 points on Saturday. That's 23.4 points below the Huskies season average of 89.4 points per game, which ranks second in the nation... The Cougars also held the Huskies to a season-low 35.9 percent shooting from the field. Washington had been shooting at a league-leading 50.9 percent entering last Saturday's contest... Freshman C Robbie Cowgill played a season-high 34 minutes and grabbed a season-best seven rebounds at Washington. Cowgill's the Pac-10's top freshman shotblocker, averaging 1.06 blocks per game.
