Huskies Compete In Softball Scrimmage

Jan. 29, 2005

SEATTLE- The Husky softball team held an intra-squad scrimmage on January 29 in preparation for their upcoming Hawaii tournament. The squad split into two teams with the pitchers pitching to both lineups.

Leading up to the scrimmage the Husky bats had been dominated by the pitching of Ashley Boek and Caitlin Noble, but the tide changed as the offense tagged the staff for six earned runs. The Husky pitchers gave up eight hits and struck out 12 while walking seven.

Leading the Husky offense was sophomore All-American Dominique Lastrapes who finished the day 2-for-3 with three runs scored for the gold team.

Another pleasant surprise was the play of Lauren Greer who has seen limited activity for the last couple of months due to illness. She was 1-for-2 on the day.

Junior first basemen Sarah Hyatt had a RBI double and Kristen Rivera had a double as well.

Overall the coaches felt it was a great way to evaluate the team in a realistic atmosphere. 'The scrimmage was a good indicator for where we are at as a team,' said head coach Heather Tarr. 'It was good to see the team in a competitive environment'
