Oregon's Brandi Davis Named Women's Hoops U.S. Bank Pac-10 Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Oregon senior guard Brandi Davis has been named the U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 24-30, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Davis, a native of La Habra, Calif., averaged 21.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in a combined 52 minutes of play as Oregon swept UCLA and USC. On the weekend, she shot 51.9 percent from the field (14-of-27), 47.6 percent from beyond the arc (10-of-21) and 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from the foul line, as the Ducks ran their Pac-10 home record to 6-0 on the year.
In Oregon's 78-71 victory over UCLA on Jan. 27, Davis scored a career-high 28 points and went 6-of-13 from three-point range in just 27 minutes of play. She hit 10-of-19 from the field overall. Davis' first points came with 3:13 minutes left in the first half. She scored Oregon's final 11 points of the half giving the Ducks a 33-31 advantage at the break. With Oregon up by one, Davis led the Oregon attack with two three-pointers and a steal resulting in a lay-in to give Oregon a 10-point cushion with 8:14 remaining in the game.
In the 81-59 win over USC on Jan. 29, Davis came off of the bench to score 14 points and went 4-of-8 from beyond the arc in 25 minutes of action.
Oregon (14-6 overall, 7-4 Pac-10) is tied for fourth in the Conference race heading into this week's game. The Ducks will host in-state rival Oregon State on Saturday for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
The Player of the Week honor is the first for Davis and is the 27th all-time selection for Oregon.
