Alejandro Canizares Wins Men's Golf Tournament In Tucson

Arizona State men's golfer Alejandro Canizares won the ArizonaPING-Intercollegiate on Tuesday with an 11-under 202 (65-66-71) atArizona National in Tucson.

Canizares, the 2003 NCAA Champion, picked up where he left off inOctober as he won the final fall event on Oct. 25-26, picking upmedalist honors at the Bandon Dunes Invitational. It marked the fifthcollegiate title in his three-year career. His stroke average thisyear is now 71.64 through five tournaments.

ASU finished fifth with a 2-over 854 (285-288-281), as New Mexico wonthe event with a 12-under 840 (289-280-271). Sun Devil Phil Telliard,playing as an individual, tied for 19th with a 2-over 215 (71-71-73).
