Beaver Tales

Feb. 1, 2005

After competing against the number one and two teams in the country, our team has a renewed fire and determination pushing us toward our goals.

The week leading up to our competition against Stanford tested all of us. Early in the week Therese Videan and Heather Justus sustained injuries that took them out of lineups. (Don't worry they will be back.) The lineup changes allowed several of us to compete for the first time on different events, resulting in a lot of positive outcomes. Three new vaulters (Jacey Draper, Yuki Lamb and Chelsea Plourde) stepped up and competed for us. Individually, Lindsay Nelson and Chelsea successfully added new skills to their beam and floor routines.

Outside of the gym, the week was spent studying and preparing for midterms. Many of us spent Friday morning taking midterms at the hotel. The other big event Friday was Claire Pierce celebrated her 19th birthday. Happy Birthday, Claire!

Although there were numerous positives that came out of a challenging week there is room for improvement. The team is looking forward to getting back in the gym Monday to prepare for our meet against Arizona State on Friday. We are equally excited to get back to Gill Coliseum to compete in front of our home crowd.
