Ann Arbor, MI - Despite a winning all-around effort of 39.575 from senior Kristen Maloney, the third-ranked UCLA gymnastics team lost a dual meet at Michigan, 196.25-195.25, in front of a school record crowd of 5,039. UCLA and second-ranked Michigan were tied going into the final rotation, but the Bruins had to count a fall on beam.
Michigan jumped out to a big lead after the first rotation, earning a score of 49.425 on vault while the Bruins counted a fall on bars to score 48.5. Maloney and Tasha Schwikert led the Bruins with scores of 9.9 and 9.825, respectively. The Wolverines recorded three straight 9.9+ scores to close the rotation, led by Jenny Deiley's meet-winning 9.95.
The Bruins rebounded in rotation two to score a 49.3 on vault. A stuck vault from Schwikert earned a team-best 9.925, while Maloney and Kate Richardson each scored 9.875. The Bruins also received scores of 9.825 from Ashley Peckett on her stuck Yurchenko Arabian and 9.8 from Jordan Schwikert.
