No. 17 California Sweeps Hawaii, 7-0

Honolulu - No. 17 California (3-0) defeated the University of Hawaii (0-3), 7-0, without dropping one set, at the UH Tennis Center. With the win, the Golden Bears improve to 3-0 overall, which the Rainbow Wahine fall to 0-3.
The Bears began the match by picking up the doubles point, winning all three matches convincingly. The freshman duo of Suzi Babos and Marion Ravelojaona defeated Hawaii's Lauren Fitzgerald and Paige Mainor, on court one, 8-3. Cal was also successful on courts two and three, where Jessica Shu and Stephanie Kusano (court two) and the team of Monica Wiesener and Tiffany Lee (court three) each won, 8-0 and 8-3, respectively.
Cal's good play continued in the singles matches, with No. 3 in the nation Babos defeating Fitzgerald, 7-6; 6-4, on court one. Wiesener continued what has been a successful season, defeating Sylvia Jaros, 6-2; 7-5 on court two. Court three saw Marion Ravelojaona beat Justine Boutet, 6-0; 6-2.
Courts four, five and six all recorded wins for the Bears as well, with Kusano (6-0; 6-0), Cristina Visico (6-4; 6-1) and Shu (6-1; 6-0) all coasting to victories.
The Golden Bears will next face the University of Washington and Washington, this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 18 and 19, at Berkeley's Hellman Tennis Center.
