UCLA Football Update

Four UCLA football players underwent surgical procedures this past Friday (Feb. 4) and all four players are doing well.

Linebacker Spencer Havner had an arthroscopic procedure to repair a labral tear in his right shoulder. Linebacker Justin London had an arthroscopic procedure to clean out loose bodies in the right ankle he sprained last season. Linebacker Wesley Walker had a small tear of the lateral meniscus in his right knee repaired arthroscopically. Offensive lineman Robert Chai had surgery to clean out the area around his left patellar tendon.

All four players are expected to be 100 per cent by the start of Fall Practice. Havner and Walker could see limited work during the latter part of UCLA's Off-Season Practice (Feb. 22 - Mar. 15).

UCLA head coach Karl Dorrell has announced a shift in assignments on the coaching staff. Brian Schneider, in addition to coaching all of the special teams, will also coach the safeties in 2005 instead of the outside linebackers and nickel backs. Gary DeLoach will now oversee the secondary and coach the cornerbacks.
