2004 Pac-10 Football Year In Review
USC won the Pac-10 Championship outright with a perfect 8-0 Conference record and was 13-0 overall on its way to being named National Champion. For the third straight season, USC found itself in the top-10 in the nation at the end of the year, finishing No. 1 for the second consecutive year.
The Pac-10 went 3-2 in bowl games this season. USC topped No. 2-ranked Oklahoma 55-19 in the FedEx Orange Bowl and claimed the national championship. It was the second consecutive national title for the Trojans and the Pac-10. OREGON STATE defeated Notre Dame 38-21 in the Insight Bowl. ARIZONA STATE also chalked up a postseason win defeating Purdue 27-23 in the Wells Fargo Sun Bowl.
As for individual awards, USC's Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush were named Co-Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year, Oregon State's Bill Swancutt and USC's Shaun Cody received the Pat Tillman Co-Defensive Player of the Year award, Arizona State's Zach Miller won Pac-10's Freshman of the Year honors and California's Jeff Tedford was named Coach of the Year.
