No. 21 Gymnasts Tumble to Another Big Score at Seattle Pacific

Feb. 12, 2005

SEATTLE, Wash. - Oregon State (7-3) scored higher than 195 for the second night in a row as the Beavers beat Seattle Pacific 195.675-192.100 at Royal Brougham Pavilion Saturday night. OSU also posted season-highs on bars and beam for the second night in a row.

Just like Friday night, Oregon State started the meet on the uneven bars by setting a season-high of 49.150. After an off night on the previous evening, Chelsea Plourde topped her season's best with a 9.850 to begin a run of five consecutive Beavers to post 9.8 or better. Lindsay Nelson and Chrissy Lamun each matched season-highs with 9.850 scores, and Heidi Goehring and Thérèse Videan each notched a score of 9.800. Ploure, Nelson and Lamun shared the bars title as the Beavers outscored the Falcons on bars 49.150-47.300.

Carrying a .925 lead into the second event, the Beavers poured it on with a solid 48.925 performance on the vault. Videan took second overall on the vault with a season-best 9.850, while Yuki Lamb and Daylee Ingalls each earned a 9.825. OSU also used Angela Morales' 9.775 and Kim Sedlak's 9.650 rounded out the scoring on vault.

With more than a 2.5 point lead at the midway point, the Beavers continued to add to that lead in each of the final two events. Goehring and Morales led Oregon State on the floor exercise tying for the floor title with identical scores of 9.800. Claire Pierce hit her routine to post a 9.775 score and Megan Devencenzi scored 9.650. OSU also counted Nelson's 9.450.

Although Oregon State's inconsistency on the floor exercise continued Saturday, its steadiness on the balance beam also remained as the Beavers wrapped up the meet in fine fashion with a season-high 49.125. That score marked the first time this season that the Beavers have exceeded 49 points on the beam. Goehring, Ingalls, and Plourde each set season-highs while Lamun tied her season-best. In the process, Ingalls, Plourde and Lamun 9.850 scores garnered them a tie for the beam title. Goehring scored 9.825 and the Beavers also counted the 9.750 of Morales.

Oregon State remains on the road next week when it travels to the University of Arizona for a Pac-10 dual in the desert.
