Past Cal Standouts Tomasulo and Wi Excel at Pebble Beach

PEBBLE BEACH, CA - Two former University of California standout golfers, Charlie Wi and Peter Tomasulo, were among the 64 golfers who qualified for the final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Feb. 10-13 at the Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Tomasulo finished with a four-round score of 286, shooting 69-75-68-74 to earn $12, 402. He had qualified for Pebble Beach by shooting a 67 Feb. 7 at Silver Creek Country Club in San Jose. Wi finished the tournament with a score of 287, shooting 68-72-70-77 to earn $11,819. Another former Cal golfer, Jesse Ruda, did not make the final round, shooting a three-round score of 223 (73-76-74).
Wi had earned his PGA card after qualifying during the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament, Dec. 1-6, 2004 in La Quinta, Calif. He was one of 35 players who earned their PGA card for the 2005 season after finishing with a round of 68, and a total six round score of 425. Wi finished tied for 26th overall in the tournament and had the fourth lowest score in the final round. He was a first team All-American for the Bears during the 1994-95 season, as well being the 1995 Pac-10 medallist.
Tomasulo and J.R. Ruda were both members of the Bears' 2004 NCAA championship squad. Tomasulo was also a first team All-American in 2004, an Academic All-American and a three-time first team All-Pac-10 selection. He had finished tied for 10th with teammate Jeff Hood at the 2004 NCAA championship (282, +2) in Hot Springs, Virginia. Ruda was honorable mention All-Pac-10 last season and shot 290 (+10) at the NCAA championship.
