Between The Bars

Life is good in Westwood. The weather is gorgeous. Our team is healthy. And we had two good meets this weekend. In our home meet against Washington Sunday we continued to develop competitively as a team, continued to clean up our routines, and had a great time doing great gymnastics. It's exciting to see them developing into a real 'team', and finding their rhythm as a team.
We've reached a new level in our competitive game. The Bruins took to the floor on both Friday and Sunday with a stronger 'Play to Win' attitude. After competing without much calm confidence in Arizona and Michigan, the team regrouped through a series of meetings held both by the coaching staff and the team itself. After three extremely focused practices last week, the Bruins added a good helping of 'belief' to their excellent work ethic. We've gotten one big step closer to a team that knows how to play to win in the Super Six. Stay Tuned.
Valentine's Day and love is in the air. Not the gushy romantic stuff of the Hollywood persuasion, I am talking about tough love ... the kind you need to get you out of a rut. The kind you need as a reminder: when you can focus on someone else's needs, you're probably helping yourself out even more than you know. The kind you need when you become a victim of routine and maybe begin to take things for granted. That's the kind of love that's going on around here. It's the love that helps you grow and holds you accountable - to yourself and those sweating it out beside you in the gym everyday. It's the kind of love that defines a team. We're beginning to get it. In the last two meets we have been a new team. No one gets to go along for the ride anymore - if we're making it to the top, everyone gets their turn to push.
