Michelle Smith Tabbed Pac-10 Softball Player Of The Week

Walnut Creek, Calif. - Stanford freshman third baseman Michelle Smith has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Softball Player of the Week, and Arizona junior Alicia Hollowell has been named Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 7-14, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Smith, from Agoura Hills, Calif., hit .571 (4-of-7) over the weekend, with three runs scored and four RBI against DePaul, Kentucky and No. 20/19 Long Beach State. She hit two home runs and a triple over the three games to rack up 12 total bases and a 1.714 slugging percentage. Smith was perfect in the field with two putouts and four assists. On the year, she is batting .429 with three home runs in seven games played and a 1.188 slugging percentage.
Hollowell, a junior from Suisun, Calif., was impressive over the weekend, posting a 3-0 record and ran her strikout total to 46 in 24 innings pitched. She threw her fifth career no-hitter and sixth overall (one shared with Wendy Allen in 2004), with an 11-strikeout, five-inning blanking of Tennessee-Chattanooga at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz., Feb. 13. Hollowell improved her career pitching record to 84-9 with the victory.
This is the first weekly honor for Smith, and the 11th for Hollowell. The awards are the 27th and 91st all-time honors for the Cardinal and Wildcats, respectively.
