Bruins Tied for Fourth after First Round in Florida

UCLA sophomore Joakim Renstrom continued his hot play and UCLA was tied for fourth place at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, hosted by the University of North Florida at Sawgrass Country Club.
The Bruins posted a team score of 292 (+4) and were tied for fourth place with Florida, six shots behind South Carolina, which leads the field at 286 (-2). LSU was second at even par 288, followed by Tennessee at 291 (+3).
Individually, Renstrom was tied with several players at one-under par 71, one stroke behind the leaders. In his last seven rounds, Renstrom is 11-under par. Kentucky's John Holmes was in a group of six players who were tied for first place at two-under par 70.
Freshman Daniel Im was tied for 13th at even par 72, followed by classmate Kevin Chappell at 74 (+2). Senior John Poucher was tied for 38th at 75 (+3) and sophomore Peter Campbell was tied for 62nd at five-over par 77.
