No. 17 California Falls to No. 8 Washington, 4-3

Berkeley - The No. 17 California women's tennis team fell to No. 8 Washington, 4-3, after resuming previously postponed play. The loss is the first this season for the Golden Bears, whose record now stands at 4-1.
Cal opened the match winning two of three doubles matches and securing the doubles point. Stephanie Kusano and Jessica Shu defeated Mugette Ahn and Dea Sumantri on court two, 8-5. Monica Wiesener and Cristina Visico clinched the doubles point on court three, where they defeated Saskia Nauenberg and Stephanie Svanfeldt, 8-5.
Cal picked up two victories in singles play. Freshman Kusano scored her third consecutive win on court four, fourth overall from the No. 4 position, against Nauenberg, 7-6, 7-6. Junior co-captain Shu remains perfect on court six, where she picked up her fifth dual match victory, defeating Allison Rainey, 4-6; 6-4; 6-4.
The Bears will host USC on Friday, February, Feb. 25 at 12:00 noon, and UCLA, Saturday, Feb. 26 at 12:00 noon at the Hellman Tennis Center
