Feb. 19, 2005
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Three Oregon State players reached double figures in scoring, but Arizona State University came away with a 66-56 victory in Saturday night's Pacific-10 Conference women's basketball action.
Oregon State (6-20; 1-15 Pac-10) jumped out to an early 6-2 lead and kept the game close for much of the first half, before Arizona State (18-8; 10-6 Pac-10) used a 6-0 run to end the frame and earn a 36-27 lead at the break.
Both teams struggled shooting from the field in the second half and OSU finished the game with a 37-percent clip, while the Sun Devils hit 45-percent from the floor.
'I'm really proud of Jessica and Shannon,' said OSU head coach Judy Spoelstra. 'I know it's not the season they wanted, but they kept a positive attitude throughout the year.'
Three Sun Devil players reached double figures in scoring with Amy Denson's 18 points leading the way.
The Beaavers held a 31-29 rebounding edge.
Oregon State returns to action on Thursday at University of California. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
