Feb. 21, 2005

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Arizona guard Salim Stoudamire has been named the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for February 14-20, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Stoudamire, a senior from Portland, Ore., led Arizona to a home sweep of the Oregon schools, averaging 26.5 points while shooting 17-of-30 from the field (56.7 percent) and 13-of-20 from beyond the arc (65.0 percent). He opened the week with 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting (4-of-6 from three-point range) against Oregon. Stoudamire followed that up with 31 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including 9-of-14 from downtown, against Oregon State. His nine three point field goals were a school record, breaking the Arizona mark of eight set by Jason Gardner on Dec. 1, 2001.

Stoudamire has scored 22 or more points in each of the last five games, all Arizona victories, averaging 25.4 points per game. He is 43-of-75 from the field (57.3 percent), 26-of-43 from beyond the arc (60.5 percent), and 15-of-15 from the free throw line (100 percent) during that stretch.
