Bruins Climb the Ladder after Day Two in Florida

The 11th-ranked UCLA men's golf team climbed the leaderboard into a second place tie after 36 holes in the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships, hosted by the University of North Florida at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
The Bruins posted a second round team score of 300 (+12), tied for the second best score of the day, and had a 36-hole total of 592 (+16). They trail Alabama, which fired a team score of 291 (+3) on Monday, and had a two-round total of 588 (+12). First-round leader South Carolina was tied with UCLA after posting a team score of 306 (+18) in the second round. Florida was fourth at 594, followed by LSU at 595.
Individually, UCLA sophomore Peter Campbell boasted the team's best round, a one-over par 73. He was tied for 31st place at 150 (+6). Classmate Joakim Renstrom posted a 74 on Monday was tied for fourth place at 145 (+1). Freshman Daniel Im was tied for 19th at 149 (+5) after carding a 77 and Kevin Chappell was tied for 31st at 150. Senior John Poucher posted a 79 (+7) and was tied for 55th at 154 (+10).
Augusta State's Major Manning was the second round leader at two-under par 142 after posting a three-under 69 on Monday.
Final round action begins Tuesday.
