SALIM STOUDAMIRE, ARIZONA
U.S. BANK PAC-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Stoudamire, a senior guard from Portland, Ore., averaged 26.5 points on 17-of-30 (.567) shooting, including 13-of-20 (.650) from three-point range in sweeping the Oregon schools. In the 92-67 win over Oregon, Stoudamire collected 22 points, hitting 7-of-14 from the field, 4-of-6 from three-point range and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. In the 91-70 win over Oregon State, the last home game of his career, Stoudamire scored 31 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including a school-record nine three-point field goals made.
With 311 career three-pointers, Stoudamire needs eight more to set the Arizona career record and 13 to become the Pac-10 career leader.
It's the fourth weekly honor for Stoudamire, the second this season, and Arizona's 63rd honor all-time.

ARIZONA will be looking for its 11th Pac-10 regular season title when it heads to the Northwest for games at Washington State and Washington this weekend... Senior G Salim Stoudamire set a school record with nine three-point field goals vs. Oregon State, breaking the old record of eight set by Jason Gardner on Dec. 1, 2001, in a 105-97 loss to Kansas... Stoudamire is shooting 29-of-48 (.604) from three-point range over the last six games... Stoudamire has scored 22 or more points in each of the last five games, averaging 25.4 points per game... Senior F Channing Frye needs three rebounds to reach 900 for his career. Only 23 players in Pac-10 history have grabbed 900 or more rebounds... Arizona has shot 50 percent or better from the floor in five of its last six games, and is 11-0 this season when shooting 50 percent or better from the field... Stoudamire is now shooting 46.6 percent (311-of-668) from three-point range in his 119-game career, a figure that currently ties him for second place on the NCAA's career three-point field goal percentage list... Sophomore G Mustafa Shakur posted a five-assist day Sunday vs. Oregon State, his 13th such game this season. In his career, Arizona is 26-4 when Shakur collects five or more assists in a single game... Arizona has scored 90 or more points in four of the last six games, a pace that has boosted the Wildcat season scoring average to 80.3 points per game. In 15 conference games, Arizona has topped the 90-point plateau seven times and is averaging 84.9 points per league contest.
ARIZONA STATE has won five of the last seven in Pullman against Washington State... ASU is 13-4 at home this season... With two nine-rebound games against Oregon State and Oregon, junior F Ike Diogu has posted nine boards 15 times in his career... Diogu has been fouled when making a shot 84 times in his career and has made 64-of-84 (.762) of the free throws that followed... Diogu now has 17 20-point games this season (46 in his career). Byron Scott (1982-83) and Jeremy Veal (1997-98) have the school single-season record with 20... Sophomore G Kevin Kruger is 60-of-68 (.882) from the foul line in Pac-10 games... Senior G Steve Moore is shooting 33-of-64 (.516) from the field and 19-of-37 (.514) from the three-point stripe in the past four games and is averaging 19 points in that time. He posted his fourth 20-point game of the year against Oregon on Saturday with 22 points... Sophomore newcomer Bryson Krueger is shooting 22-of-40 (.550) from three-point range in the past 13 games... More Diogu: Ike Diogu's national-best double figure scoring streak of 86 games still has a ways to go until it reaches Pac-10 and NCAA-record levels. The NCAA record is 115 set by La Salle's Lionel Simmons from 1987-90, while Sean Elliott of Arizona (1985-89) scored in double digits in the final 108 games of his career. Two Pac-10 notables never reached 70 games, as Lew Alcindor posted double digits in 69 straight games while Don MacLean, the Pac-10's career scoring leader, had his streak stopped at 68.
CALIFORNIA junior C Rod Benson has scored in double figures in each of the last eight games, averaging 15.4 points and 8.8 rebounds during that stretch of games. He posted a pair of double-doubles last weekend, increasing his season total to six... While junior G Richard Midgley has had recent success from the foul line, hitting on 13 consecutive free throws over the last four games, he's looking to snap out of a 7-for-36 (.194) slump from the field... The Bears are looking for a cure for the longball blues - Cal hit 30 percent or better from three-point range in three of the last 12 Pac-10 games... Over the last three games, freshman F DeVon Hardin has pulled down 17 rebounds in just 38 minutes of work.... The Bears head to the Oregon schools this week. Cal has won 14 straight over Oregon State. The Bears have won the last nine meetings in Corvallis.
OREGON F forward Malik Hairston posted his first career double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds at Arizona State. Over the last three games, Hairston is averaging 16.7 points on 22-of-35 (.629) shooting, while collecting 7.0 rebounds per game... Hairston leads all Pac-10 freshmen in field goal percentage, and ranks seventh among all Pac-10 players at 53.1 percent (127-of-239)... After scoring 53 of Oregon's 67 points last Thursday at Arizona (led by Hairston's career-high 21) and 29-of-56 Saturday at ASU, Oregon's six newcomers are now accounting for 50 percent of Oregon's offense (36.0 ppg). In fact, Oregon freshmen and sophomores accounted for 127 of the team's 133 total points scored last week (95.5 percent). For the season, the underclassmen have accounted for 1,386 of the team's 1,651 total points (83.9 percent)... Sophomore G Aaron Brooks is shooting 100-of-120 (.833) from the free throw line for his career. That figure ranks as the fifth best career percentage in the Oregon record book.
OREGON STATE senior F David Lucas has four double-doubles in the last six games. Three more rebounds at the right times, and it would have been six in a row. He had 26 points (three away from his career-high) and 13 rebounds (tying his career-high) at Arizona State on Thursday... When Lucas was named Pac-10 Player of the Week last week, it put him into some select company. The only other OSU players to earn the award three or more times in a career are Gary Payton (nine), A.C. Green (four), Jose Ortiz (three) and Scott Haskin (three)... Junior F Nick DeWitz has blocked a shot in 17 of the last 18 games, with 13 being multi-block games. He ranks second in the Pac-10 in blocked shots (2.16 bpg)... OSU puts its 10-1 home record (6-1 in Pac-10 play) on the line against a couple of long losing streaks this weekend. The Beavers have lost 11 straight to Stanford and 14 straight to California.
Stepping into the lineup to replace the injured Dan Grunfeld, STANFORD sophomore F Fred Washington provided an instant spark in Cardinal wins over USC and UCLA. In his first start against the Trojans, Washington responded with career highs in points (22 on 11-of-17 shooting), assists (4), and minutes (37), while also grabbing seven rebounds. He propelled the Cardinal offense early, scoring eight of Stanford's first 10 points. Against the Bruins, Washington set career highs in rebounds (8), steals (7) and minutes (37), while scoring 12 points on 3-of-3 shooting from the field and 6-of-9 from the free throw line... Against the Trojans, junior F Matt Haryasz set his scoring career high with 23 points. He made 10-of-11 free throws in the win, while pulling down 11 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season... Junior G Chris Hernandez had the hottest hand against the Bruins, scoring a career-high 37 points on 13-of-22 shooting, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc... Stanford has won nine of its last 11 Pac-10 games, the lone hiccups coming on its trip to Arizona... The Cardinal travel to Corvallis and Eugene this week. Stanford has won its last four meetings against Oregon, and 11 straight against Oregon State.
UCLA's victory at California marked its first win at Haas Pavilion since 2000... Senior F Dijon Thompson had 23 points and nine rebounds in the victory. Thompson then contributed 19 points and 11 rebounds in the Bruins loss at Stanford. It was his sixth double-double of the season... Freshman G Jordan Farmar posted a career-high seven rebounds in the win over the Bears, to go along with 15 points. He followed that up with 16 points and seven assists against the Cardinal... Farmar and Thompson were both named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 15 team, with Thompson earning first team and Farmar second team honors... Farmar and Thompson rank third and fourth, respectively, Conference-wide in minutes played. Both average more than 34 minutes per contest... When opponents miss, the Bruins are there to collect the ball; UCLA leads the Pac-10 in defensive rebounds, averaging 24.96 per game... The Bruins rallied from an 18-point halftime deficit to defeat USC, this week's opponent, 72-69 in their last meeting on Jan. 29.
USC defeated California for the second time this season, completing the Trojan's season sweep of the Bears. USC has swept both Cal and Arizona State, but has yet to beat any other Pac-10 team... Five Trojans scored in double figures against the Golden Bears, the second time USC has managed the feat in Conference play - the other coming in a 98-94 win at ASU... Freshman G Gabe Pruitt and senior F Jeff McMillan led the way with 19 points each against Cal. McMillan also contributed 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season... Pruitt also scored 23 in USC's loss at Stanford, shooting 7-of-11 from three-point range. Two free throws accounted for the rest of his scoring. He scored 18 in the first half to give the Trojans a 35-32 lead at the break. In the last four games Pruitt is averaging 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. In those games, he is shooting 25-of-51 from the field (.490) and is 18-of-34 from three-point range (.529)... The Trojans try for their fifth win in the last six meetings against UCLA on Thursday.
WASHINGTON staked claim to its third straight men's basketball Apple Cup with the Huskies' win on the Palouse... Senior G Will Conroy attempted just two field goals against the Cougars, but dished out nine assists and had only one turnover. The Pac-10 leader in assists with 155 (6.46 apg), Conroy is just eight assists shy of Chester Dorsey's school record, set in 1976. With 451 assists for his career, Conroy is just 15 short of the career Husky assist mark, also held by Dorsey... The dish-friendly Huskies also feature the passing talents of junior G Nate Robinson, who had six dimes versus WSU. Robinson's 126 assists (5.04 apg) on the season are tied for eighth most in Washington's annals. Robinson is also seven assists shy of cracking the Husky career top ten... The Huskies are a team of margin-al talents, leading the Pac-10 in scoring margin, rebounding margin, and turnover margin... Washington's 20-game home winning streak will face a stiff test this week when Arizona State and No. 9 Arizona visit Seattle. The Huskies have won three straight against ASU, but dropped their last meeting to Arizona in Tucson. Last season, however, the Huskies swept the Wildcats in three meetings, including a showdown at the Pac-10 Tournament.
Freshman G Kyle Weaver led WASHINGTON STATE against the Huskies. The Beloit, Wis., native scored a career-high 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting against Washington, while pulling down a career-high eight rebounds and dishing out two assists. Weaver becomes the fourth WSU freshman to lead the team or tie for the lead in scoring this season. In each of the 19 games in which a freshman has not been the scoring leader, senior G Thomas Kelati, senior F Jeff Varem, or both, have led the team in points. Weaver's effort follows a team-best 19 points by freshman G Derrick Low at Oregon, meaning that Kelati or Varem had led the team in 19 of the first 21 games... The youth movement has been well served in the starting rotation; the 2004-05 season is the first in WSU history in which five true freshman have made at least one start... Kelati needs 13 points to reach 1,000 points for his career and become the 25th Cougar all-time to reach that milestone... This week the Cougars will face Arizona for the first time since WSU's historic win in the desert on Jan. 29. The victory snapped a 38-game losing streak against the Wildcats.
