Feb. 22, 2005

LOS ANGELES -- USC incoming women's soccer player Amy Rodriguez (Lake Forest, Calif./Santa Margarita HS) has been named to the United States Women's National Team roster for the 12th annual Algarve Cup, to be played March 9-15 in southern Portugal. Rodriguez, who will be a freshman with the Women of Troy for the 2005 season, becomes the first player in the history of the USC women's soccer program to play for the U.S. National Team.

Rodriguez, 18, is the youngest member of the U.S. roster and one of five forwards listed. She was a starter for the U.S. squad that finished third last November at the FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship in Thailand, scoring two goals and adding two assists in the tournament.
