Men's JV Golf Finishes Fifth In Washington

AUBURN, Wash.- - The Oregon State men's JV golf team fired a 315 Tuesday and finished fifth at the shortened Washington Winter Championship. Fog delayedMonday's first round and the tournament was abbreviated to two rounds.

The Beavers posted a two-round score of 615.

Senior Cameron MacKenzie, after being tied for fourth going into the final round, carded a 78 Tuesday and finished tied for seventh with a 6-over 150. MacKenzie's opening-round 72 was the team low for the tournament. Three strokes back was freshman Tim Sundseth, who tied for 14th.

Oregon's JV squad closed out the win by seven strokes over Western Washington with a total of 603.

Jay Snyder led the Ducks and captured individual medalist honors with a 1-over 145. Idaho's Christian Akau finished just one stroke behind in second.

Freshman Clayton Moe and sophomore Jay Ross tied for 26th at 156 and freshman Jeremiah Oliver finished tied for 49th.

The Beavers' varsity team returns to action Feb. 28-Mar. 1 at the USC Invitational in Westlake Village, Calif.
